The stress reaction is not non-specific. There are two main kinds stressor. One is physiological stressor, the other is psychological stressor. Different stressor caused different change patterns of physiological parameters. And automatic nervous activity could be modulated effectively via respiration biofeedback training. The present study explored scalp and automatic nervous system activity during mental arithmetic, horrible video and Respiration biofeedback training, through analyzing GSR, heart rate, heart rate variability and the power spectrum of electroencephalogram. The results are as follows:First, physiological parameters changed significantly during the three different conditions. GSR, heart rate, %LF,θrhythm of EEG power in F3 and P4,βrhythm of EEG power in T3 and T4 increases significantly during mental arithmetic, while %HF decreasing significantly at the same time. GSR,θrhythm of EEG power in F4,βrhythm of EEG power in T3 increases significantly during horrible video, while heart rate,αrhythm of EEG power in F3, F4, P3, P4,βrhythm of EEG power in T4, P3, P4 decreasing significantly at the same time. LF, LF/HF, %LF,θrhythm of EEG power in F3, P3, and P4 increases significantly during respiration biofeedback training, while HF, %HF decreasing significantly at the same time.Second, although both mental arithmetic and horrible video are psychological stressors, there are some differences between them. Compare to the stress reaction induced by mental arithmetic, the stress reaction induced by horrible video is weaker but longer.Third, respiration biofeedback training has significant influence on the automatic nervoussystem activity. EEG changes during respiration biofeedback. The data suggests that alteration ofθrhythm of EEG power maybe indicate brain plays an important role in autonomic nervoussystem regulation.
