Most researchers pay more attention to the creativity in cognitive domain,our article focuses on the creativity in domain of emotion.We make three studies to investigate the predictive factors of emotional creativity and the relationship of emotional creativity,achievement motivation and coping styles.The present article contains three studies:In study 1,To choose cognitive creativity as a criterion for emotional creativity,Emotional Creativity Inventory(short for ECI) and Kirton Adaptation-Innovation Inventory(short for KAI) was administrated for 278 high school students to test the validity and reliability of Emotional Creativity Inventory,which provided a tool for the subsequent two studies.We found that,(1) analyses of the ECI suggest that three facets of emotional creativity can be distinguished theoretically,namely,preparedness,novelty,and effectiveness/authenticity.(2) the Emotional Creativity Inventory revised in the study,possess good construct validity,criterion-related validity,internal consistency reliability and retest reliability.In study 2,a composite questionnaire,which includes Emotional Creativity Inventory,Perceptions of Parents Scales,(short for PPS) and NEO Five-Factor Inventory(short for NEO~FFI) was administrated for 150 high school students to investigate whether if the parenting style and the personality can effectively predict emotional creativity.This study found that openness to experience,conscientiousness and mother involvement are all effective predictive indexes of emotional creativity.Among which openness to experience,and conscientiousness are positive predictive indexes of emotional creativity,mother involvement is a negative predictive index of emotional creativity.In study 3,another composite questionnaire,which includes Emotional Creativity Inventory, Achievement Motives Scale(short for AMS) and Ways of coping questionnaire(short for WCQ) was administrated for 152 high school students to investigate the relationship of emotional creativity,achievement motivation and coping styles.In this study we found that,(1) achievement motivation has moderator effects in relations between emotional creativity and coping styles.(2) emotional creativity and its three facets all have positive effects on problem-focused coping——preparedness has direct positive effects on problem-focused coping;effectiveness/authenticity has indirect positive effects on problem-focused coping;novelty has indirect positive effects on problem-focused coping.(3) two facets of emotional creativity have different effects on emotion-focused coping——preparedness has indirect positive effects on emotion-focused coping,and effectiveness/authenticity has indirect negative effects on emotion-focused coping.
