Review of the interpretation of The Great Learning in Chinese mainland since 1979, is a very meaningful action not only for the development of The Great Learning but also for the researching of the whole contemporary Chinese academic history and ideological history.The contemporary academic background has left distinct brands in the interpretation results of The Great Learning. These results have shown some characteristics : multiple perspective ; various method ; multi-dimensional evaluation. The interpretation of The Great Learning in contemporary Chinese mainland can be reflected by its interpretation results in education content, academic study content and mass culture.The interpretation of The Great Learning in education content includes four aspects: the interpretation of The Great Learning in general history textbooks and specialized history textbooks; the interpretation of The Great Learning in selected reading textbooks; the interpretation of The Great Learning in reference books; the interpretation of The Great Learning in the mottoes of universities. The interpretation of The Great Learning in academic study content involves the interpretation of The Great Learning in academic paper and academic work. The interpretation of The Great Learning in mass culture includes the interpretation of The Great Learning in picture and gossip. In these interpretation results, achievement and problems coexist.According to the research of three aspects above, this paper holds that the interpretation of The Great Learning in contemporary Chinese mainland presents some characteristics: fusion of horizons between the text of The Great Learning and interpreters; injection of contemporary content in the interpretation of The Great Learning; dialogue between the text of The Great Learning and interpreters; By reflecting these results, the academic interpretation that taking The Great Learning as body present some hoodwink and academic bubble; the service interpretation that not taking The Great Learning as body trend to pursuit some speech and theory.
