The dissertation aims at the study of the new finale by Hao Weiya for Puccini's Turandot, commissioned by the National Centre for the Performing Arts and prèmiered in 2008. Through the first-hand material using comparative analysis, to study the characteristics and value of the new finale.The dissertation is divided into five chapters as follows:Chapter one trace back to other characteristics of Turandot descript by various literary and historical dramas showing ahead of the libretto of the finale on the basis of Turandot created by Puccini.Chapter two aims to study the psychological changes of Turandot influenced by the inheritance and variation on the final script of Puccini's drama exhibiting by Hao Weiya via methods of listing difference to do the analysis.Chapter three is the essential part of the dissertation which aims to study the special musical metods used by Hao Weiya to highlight more reasonable psychological changes of Turandot, which follows up the clue of Turandot kissing section: pre-kiss, kissing and post-kiss.Chapter four is mainly focusing on the inheritance of Puccini's style in Hao Weiya's finale. Research on the continually using of material and the utilizing of musical technique of Hao Weiya's finale is conducted by comparing with the original music material of Turandot and Puccini's musical technique.In Chapter five, the author tries to review the finale of a western opera that wrote by an eastern in the view of an eastern by studying the embellishment eastern element in the finale music as well as the stage performance, thus to find the valuable culture connotations of the finale.
