The researches on the cognitive field of adult attachment to society have not onlyprovided solid evidences for the perfection and enrichment of attachment theory, butalso guaranteed the application of attachment theory in clinical treatment andconsultation. Existing researches demand us to have a full understanding of theworking of the attachment system as well as a better comprehension of the variousdiscrepancies of different attachment orientations, and to investigate through strictcognitive experiment paradigm how internal working model of attachment processinformation in an activated state. The aim of my research is therefore, to investigatehow activated context, attachment orientation, and phraseology type impact theinformation processing of activated attachment.First, this research used the"Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory"(ECR) and the"Trait Anxiety Inventory"(T-AI) of the"State-Trait AnxietyInventory"to sift three groups of testees representing three different attachmentorientations. Then, the testees were induced to recall different contexts through"Stroop Color-Word Naming Task"and"Study -Recognition Test"in order toinvestigate the testees'reaction time and memory quantity in different contexts. Thecontextual variables included both the separation from, the conflict with, and thepleasant time spent together with the attachment figures, which were related toattachment, and the challenging context unrelated to attachment. The investigatedphraseology types comprised both proximity words and distance words representativeof inner attachment representations, and inextricable and evasive words emblematicof the archetypal behavior of insecurity attachment orientation in conflicting context. Finally, based on the cognitive experiment results, intervening program was designedas an attempt to integrate effectively the results from the fundamental researches withthe field of application. The discovery made from experiment one showed that the separation of memoryfrom the attachment figure activated remarkably the two unsafe attachment-orientedtestees'attachment system, similar to the two attention processing modes, which was significantly different from the safe attachment-oriented testees'.The challengingcontext of attention processing of the high-score anxiety group was significantlyweaker than the separation context, there was no distinct difference between theattention processing in the high-score avoidance group in the separation context andchallenging context. No matter what the attachment orientation was, there was nodifference between the attention processing in pleasure context and controlledcondition. Experiment two demonstrated that the conflict between attachment figurehad different impacts on attention and memory, that the reaction time in thehigh-score anxiety group was remarkably prolonged on the attention level, and thatthe memory quantity in the high-score avoidance group was increased remarkably onthe memory level. Although bias processing was no found at the attention Stage in theearly processing, emotional information notably took up more resources at the latterstage of memory processing. As a result, certain effects were achieved by theintervening program which based on the cognitive characteristics demonstrated by theexperiment results and the case attachment orientation.
