Shaanxi The Tongguan Tax Village Of Sui Dynasty Tomb Murals

The mural tomb found in Shui village,Tongguan, Shanxi province is the most important tomb of Sui Dynasty we found until now. In this paper we will pay attention to the grave construction, the mural, the burial puppet and sarcophagus to discuss the art source of Shuicun tomb which also related with the significance of some images. And we discovered in the discussion that Northern Zhou Dynasty tomb art have huge influence on Shuicun tomb, but it also take advantages from Eastern Wei Dynasty and Northern Qi Dynasty tomb art. From some images on the sarcophagus, we can speculate The Buddhism and the mazdeism also make important role on tomb art of Sui Dynasty.The Shuicun village tomb takes the high specification as an imperial family tomb, has reflected the Sui Dynasty ruler's thought directly, especially in the vision of cultural and art field.Contrast with tomb art of North, we can think about what is the choice standard that the rulers of Sui dynasty select tomb art forms, and what role the Sui dynasty tomb art play in Tang dynasty. In addition, the study of Shuicun tomb also highlights the role of images in history study.
