Jung was one of the greatest psychologists in the 20th century; the theory of symbol is holding profound ideological connotations. The whole article is divided into four parts:Part one is a background analysis on symbol theory. Major in the Profound meaning of symbol, Jung's definition of symbol, the history of symbol aesthetic in West countries and huge ideological origins of Jung's symbol theory. Part two is the content analysis on symbol theory. Through eternal symbol (collective unconscious), symbolic imagery (archetype), integral symbol (the self) and symbolic prophecy (dream) drew to the conclusion analysis of Jung's symbol theory. Part three is an applied analysis of symbol theory. It focuses on the treatment of psychological, the areas of religion, literature and art to explain Jung's symbol theory. Application of symbol theory is the most valuable part of the analysis of psychology, so it is the essence of Jung's ideology. The final part is evaluative analysis of symbol theory. It makes a simple assessment on Jung's symbol theory from its contributions and limitations so as to the relationship between the western of contemporary ideological trend with it.
