Sino-Foreign joint-ventures have been developing rapidly since China's reform and opening-up. They have become one of the prime parts of China's national economy. With the advent of good news of China's entry to WTO at the end of 2001, more and more foreign enterprises are coming to invest in China. Therefore, Sino-Foreign joint-venture will be a more important ingredient of China's economic development. Apparently, the establishment of Sino-Foreign enterprises is beneficial to both parties. They can attain to the aim of mutual advantages and mutual development. However, there are not only many successful joint-ventures but also failure ones. After analysis of many successful experiences and failure lessons, I find that it plays an decisive role on whether it succeeds or not for the merge of different management cultures. The management of Sino-Foreign enterprise itself is cross-cultural administration. Different cultural communication obstacles and conflicts exist everywhere in this big family. How to maintain local cultural advantage and character and absorb foreign cultural essence will be the survival way of joint venture and basic condition for the realization of joint-venture's strategic globalization.The cross-cultural management of Sino-Foreign enterprises is how to avoid the cultural conflicts and manage the business effectively under the muti-culture conditions. It aims at making a practical organization and an effective managerial system, allocating the enterprise resources most reasonably, especially expanding the potentialities and the values of human resource in the environment of different cultures so that it can optimize the enterprise comprehensive profit. The author himself has been working in joint-ventures for many years and learned more about cross-cultural management of joint-ventures. Therefore , he is eager to do some research on cultural difference and problems arisen from joint-venture's cross-cultural management so that it can provide some lessons and references for the development of Sino-Foreign joint-ventures.This dissertation applies the methods of comparison and case analysis focusing on research of Sino-Western cultural difference, and finally bringing up the solutions. This dissertation is divided into five-part. The preface briefly expounds the realistic significance of Sino-Foreign joint-venture's cross-cultural management research; Next comes to the theme of this essay. The first part analyses Sino-Foreignjoint-venture's cultural difference and its manifestations; the second part elaborates its impacts on enterprise management; the third part introduces the theoretical styles of Sino-Foreign joint-venture's cross-cultural management; the forth part brings up the countermeasures of Sino-Foreign joint-venture's cross-cultural management.
