Poverty has many faces, changing from place to place and across time, and has been described in many ways. The most commonly used way to measure poverty is based on incomes or consumption levels. A person is considered poor if his or her consumption or income level falls below some minimum level necessary to meet basic needs. This minimum level is usually called the "poverty line". Poverty lines vary in time and place. This article introduces the economist Amartya Sen, he found some new directions in poverty measurement, and at the same time the article included the other ways and ideas. So the whole article included three sections about the dimensions of the poverty, measurement of poverty line, the aggregation of the poverty. Also introduce the "Sen indicator" which is a way to aggregate poverty.
