Guangdong Province has made astonishing accomplishments in thepast two decades since implementation of the reform and opening policy.It started regional earlier than most other regions. Guangdong, HongKong and Macao have already developed into a Greater Pearl River Deltathat has generated economic benefit for all three. However, in response toeconomic globalization, regional integration and industrial structureadjustment nowadays, Guangdong needs a new platform from which toscale a new height and boost competitive power, so Guangdong muststrengthen economic cooperation with areas in its vicinity. As far asSichuan Province, as the western inland, it has respective advantages ofnatural resources, science, technology, and market. Nevertheless, Sichuanhas to face a fact that the deficiency of information and funds. In order toenhance its economic power and achieve its economic development targetduring the development of West China, Sichuan also needs a strongpartner that helps form new economic growth pole, accelerate its transferfrom the comparative advantage into the realistic economic advantage,realize the restructure of three industries and bring it into the internationalmarket. Sichuan should not only open its door to the outside world further,but also make full use of its comparative advantages and strengthen itsdomestic and Tran regional economic cooperation in China. At this time,a broader regional cooperation and development strategy encompassingall of southern China—the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) —beganimplement. It will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields ofenergy, power, transportation, telecommunications, tourism, science,technology and trade. It is a rare opportunity for Guangdong and Sichuan,both of which have the basic incentive to strengthen economiccooperation. Therefore, this paper regards Guangdong—Sichuaneconomic cooperation in the PPRD as the research subject. According tothe relevant theory of industrial economic, regional economic anddevelopment economic, and combining theory and practice, throughempirical analysis on their same development chance and differentcomparative advantages, the author finds out the foundation of economiccooperation between them. Through a large number examples analysis,this paper combines theoretical direction, propose suggestion andmeasure economic cooperation. The author greatly hopes that she cancontribute to find a relative "shot-cut" for Guangdong—Sichuan toaccelerate economic development by the research result. The paper falls into the following four chapters: Chapter One is relevant theories. In this part a series of relatedconcepts are proposed and examined such as PPRD, region, economiccooperation, regional economic cooperation. In the article the authorintroduces the scope and significance of research subject, using theoriesabout regional cooperation from industrial economic and regionaleconomic for reference, puts forward the author's theoreticalconsideration to Guangdong—Sichuan economic cooperation, offers thetheories to be prepared for the following deep analysis. Chapter Two analyzes and appraises the influence of PPRDimplementation on Guangdong—Sichuan economic cooperation, in orderto have a concrete understanding of their cooperation's importance andnecessity. PPRD will help elevate Guangdong—Sichuan cooperationfrom traditional commercial circulation and manufacturing to fulladvancement of the first, secondary and tertiary industries, and fromspontaneous, self-initiated operation to multi-level, broader andall-around economic and trading cooperative relations propelled by thegovernment and guided by the market. So Guangdong—Sichuanstrengthen their economic cooperation is necessary. Chapter Three is based on Guangdong—Sichuan's actual conditionsand the empirical analysis, studies and appraises the possibility of theireconomic cooperation.
