There will be significant industry organization change worldwide with the step of PRC join WTO as the acceleration of international trade business. The enterprise competes is transforming into the value chain between competition including the global purchase, production, capital, and the talented person which has composed highly effective huge value chain under the strut of information system. Whether the enterprise could win in the market competes, full of power and continues to develop, the key lies on the management. Therefore, first of all is to enhance the enterprise to synthesize the management level and market strain. This needs one set of comprehensive ERP system to help the enterprise to carry on the management. ERP represents not only has limited to one kind of software product, it has manifested one idea in the deep level, one kind of modernized business management thought. It brings to the enterprise is overall strength enhancement, makes the enterprise to grow strong.Since 1981 the first set of MRPⅡ software introduced into China, MRP II /ERP has experienced 20 years in China's application and the promotion. In the past several years, our companies have made a lot of achievements, but their management skills have been still very poor, especially compared with companies in advanced countries. Because of a-long-term planned economy, our companies are inefficient in resources collocation. It is very urgent to our companies to use ERP system to change the situation. Because of the bias in understanding and the scarcity in implementing, a lot of companies spent much and failed in the end. Under this background, this paper appears.This thesis is divided into four parts altogether, it analyses the ERP process in China by introducing the basic theories of ERP and functions and modules, with focus on the reasons behind ERP project failures. It also puts forward the ERP solution in light of the status quo of Chinese enterprises, i.e. the Chinese enterprisesneed to combine ERP and BPR to make the implementation of ERP succeed.
