As the impact of the world economic globalization expanding gradually, the earth has been minified to a global village to push more frequent communications around the world, especially the unprecedented peak of the communication of the national culture. It is an urgent to spread Chinese culture to the world during China communicates with the world. English textbooks, an important tool for learning English, also have to choose the design of diverse ethnic cultures in such times, in particular, to analysis the differences between the national culture and foreign culture, and to avoid a single national cultural orientation.Comparison is one of an essential method to understand the world and also to study language. Penetrating the comparison of English and Chinese cultural features in English textbooks is one of an effective and important way to bring the cultural function of textbooks sufficiently. It seems not relevant to learn national culture with foreign language learning. Actually it is not. In face, in 2001, China promulgated the "Junior High School English Curriculum Standards". For the first time the cultural consciousness appeared as one of curriculum standards and the "understanding of cultural differences, cultivating the spirit of patriotism, and enhancing awareness of the world" was emphasized in it. The relationship between language and culture is extremely close. Language is full of rich cultural connotations; English learning refers to many cross-cultural communicative factors and the differences between English and Chinese languages are at scale, which significantly affect the learning and using of English. Obviously, it is benefit to contrast English and Chinese cultural in English textbooks. For the one hand, it is helpful to understand the foreign culture well while learning native culture. For the other hand, contrasting cultural differences is not only meaningful to improve the identify competence of foreign culture but also the sensitivity of cultural differences, which can cultivate patriotism and a deep understanding of their own cultures.This thesis based on the theory of contrastive analysis and selected textbooks for the junior secondary to analyze. This paper mainly discussed some aspects of the differences between English and Chinese culture which English textbooks may be referred to during compilation, and try to offer some useful advice for textbooks' compiling. This paper comprises five parts, mainly. The first chapter is the article's introduction. In this part, writer introduced the selection cause and meaning of this article, the domestic and foreign research actualities, and also the innovation and shortage of the paper.The second part mainly focuses on some important concepts about the paper topic. For instance:the relationship between language and culture, the cultural function orientation of English teaching materials (here refers to textbooks), and so on.Chapters III and IV is the main part of this thesis. Respectively, according to PEP English textbooks "Go for it!" this paper discusses the differences between English and Chinese culture from the micro aspects to macro aspects Microscopic part of the cultural differences chooses on lexical level and some aspects on customs and culture; macro-level analysis the thinking patterns and communication mode.The last part is the conclusion of the article. Firstly, summarize some of the major problems in the selection of the content of the cultural contrast, such as:weak awareness of Chinese culture; secondly, offer advice in three areas according to the above problems, for example:enhancing the sense of cultural contrast of editors; following the principles of choosing teaching material cultural content; and diversifying the methods of importing culture into English textbooks.
