Tennis is a confrontational modern movement, which is affected by manyfactors, collecting energy, skill, tactical ability and mental capacity etc as a whole.Athletes should take every point seriously in a tennis match for its longer time andmore physical ability consuming, as well as the rule that who gets4points first andexceeds2points than the opponent wins one inning. For athletes in tennis match, their competition is reflected in its psychological battle, as well as its fitness andskills. In this paper, we use the methods of literature, questionnaire, measurement, mathematical statistics to measure pre-match and heart rate variability for athleteswho attended the17th National College Tennis Championship. For pre-matchanxiety survey, we use Competition State Anxiety Inventory Questionnaire–2, aswell as state anxiety questionnaire (CSAI-2) and trait anxiety inventory (CCTAI-J)in Cognitive Trait Anxiety Inventory Questionnaire; for heart rate variability, we usepolar810produced in Finland. And we take Pearson correlation analysis to explorethe relationship among competitive state anxiety, trait anxiety and heart ratevariability. The results are as follows:(1)College tennis players’ pre-match anxiety has something to do with gender, region and sports level.(2)College tennis players’ pre-match heart rate variability indicators have nothingsignificant to do with gender and sports level, but there are significant differences inathletes’PNN50in different regions, i.e., in central, west and east.(3) Tennis players’ pre-match anxiety are significantly correlated with someindicators of heart rate variability due to athletes’ different genders, athletes’ comingdifferent regions and different sports levels. Therefore, we are supposed toevaluate athletes’ pre-match anxiety objectively by using subjective experience thatis questionnaire and some indictors of heart rate variability.
