With the development of information technology, mobile device has given a new development direction for modern distance education. However, Modern distance education ignore teachers and students emotional communication, teachers can’t make the appropriate feedback based on students’ reaction. Affective computing is introduced into the distance education, to establish a harmonious human computer interactive education model, can have a positive effect on the learners.In the expression of emotion, the facial expression can reveal the emotional information, so we mainly study the problem of facial expressions in affective computing. The facial recognition technology is divided into facial image pre-processing, feature extraction and facial expression feature classification three steps. In this paper, we use the adaboost face detection algorithm based on matrix feature to detect the face information of the input image. Haar wavelet filtering is used to image denoising of face information. Then, using the nearest neighbor method to the difference image to zoom denoised standardization. In Facial expression feature extraction process, by contrast the Linear Discriminant Analysis and Principal Component Analysis, by Linear Discriminant Analysis of extracted features has a higher facial expression recognition effect. Secondly, in the facial expression feature classification algorithm, we compare the experiment K-Nearest Neighbor classification algorithm and Support Vector Machine. SVM classification algorithm for facial expression classification accuracy rate is relatively high.At the end of this paper, we develop the APP that achieves facial expression recognition of distance education support system, under the development platform provided by the Apple Corp Xcode. Used for teaching activities, it allows learners are no longer bound by time and space to learn, at the same time; we can get the feedback of learners. Then, we can partly solve the problem of lack of emotion in modern distance education.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:First, we introduce the background and significance of the research content; the second part is the basis of relevant theories and develop the technology needed to elaborate; The third part of the system of the core technology of facial expression recognition technology research and comparison of related algorithms; The fourth part of the auxiliary system of the APP demand analysis and development; The fifth part of this paper is the summary and outlook of this paper.
