In recent years the learning styles of mathematics have become the focus of attention in the fields of pedagogy and psycholinguistics. However, it seems that studies in this enlightening field are far from enough. Much fewer have been carried out in middle schools in China, so the present study is firstly to review the literatures connected with the following three aspects: the various learning style, the essence of strategy research and the development of learning strategy, abroad and at home; secondly, a quantitative analysis has been made to investigate what kinds of learning style usually adopted by learners, and whether there is a significant difference in choosing learning styles in two groups: one group is composed of the first -year students, the other is composed of the second-year students. The subjects chosen are students from three senior middle schools in Mudanjiang city, in Heilongjiang province. The result or data collected from both groups are analyzed with the instrument of SPSS in accordance with the research questions. The findings manifest that there is no significant difference in choosing learning styles among senior middle students in different grades, that is, the learning styles do not necessarily ameliorate with the grade increasing. Both the groups get higher marks in such aspects as an attitude towards test, an attitude towards assignments and preparations of lessons while they get lower marks in such aspects as leaning planning, learning methods, style of reviewing and that of attending a lecture. Finally, some suggestions and countermeasures for senior middle students are made to improve their learning ability by applying scientifically learning styles.
