Based on the theories of natural teaching, humanitarian learning, explorative teaching and STS teaching, this paper analyzed the theoretical and practical significance of merging scientific and humanitarian spirit, and ways and means of merging scientific and humanitarian spirit into physical teaching. Methods of questionnaire and theoretical analysis were used in this paper on solving this problem, and a fundamental discussion of the problem on the practice was made.There were three parts of this paper. A brief introduction of the epoch background and research significance of merging scientific and humanitarian spirit was made in the foreword, and the researching state on the field in and out of the nation was expounded at the same time.In the second part, on the base of the connotation and characteristic of scientific and humanitarian spirit, discussion was made on merging scientific and humanitarian spirit in physical teaching in the middle school. Furthermore, the possibility of merging scientific and humanitarian spirit in physical teaching was also discussed.Third session of this treatise was about the practical research of merging scientific and humanitarian spirit in physical teaching of middle school. The first step was to devise a questionnaire to get the information about the students' status on scientific and humanitarian spirit and possible means of merging the two spirits. On the base of this, substantial discussion about the ways of merging was made and teaching practice was carried out. The series of tests showed the validity of ways and means of merging scientific and humanitarian spirits, and the complexity and lasting of doing so in teaching.
