It is pointed out in 《 The Decision Made by the State Council about the Basic-Educational Reform and Development 》 that "the key to improving the education for all-round development is to build a group of teachers of high qualities ". The teachers' professional development has already become the focus on educational reform. Its connotation is a constant expandable and renewal process that is based on teachers' self-professional development consciousness and supported by external background of professional development. The professional development of the geography teachers of middle school is the teachers'professianal development specifying in the geography education of middle school.On the basis of referring to a great deal literature information and analyzing thoroughly, this research applies to basic theories of teachers' professional development to analyze systematically and explore creatively professional development of the geography teachers in middle school theoretically and practically.The content includes the theoretic annotation of teachers' professional development, the construction of the professional structure and optimization model of the geography teachers of middle school, the current situation investigation of professional development of the geography teachers in middle school and the analysis of its reason, the exploration of geography teachers' professional development tactics and mode at middle school. What is new in this essay is that it deals with teachers' professional development under the background of the new basic education reform .The suggestion put forward stresses the external background support of geography teachers' professional development, especially emphasizes the importance of teachers' independent development. It has certain directive significance to reflecting and planning the professional development of the geography teachers in middle school.This research mainly uses the methods such as research of documents, questionnaire investigation, comparative analysis, interview, etc, Hope this research can benefit all the geography teachers who engage in geography teaching in middle school and help them do geography teaching with new idea and thoughts, and, at last they can reach the goal of improving the whole level of geography teachers' professional development.
