With the accelerative growth of high-performance computers, a great progress of computational electromagnetics has been recently achieved. Among all the methods, the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method attracts more and more attention because of its features, and some FDTD- based simulation software have also been developed.In this thesis, firstly, we make a concise comparison and analysis of the popular FDTD software, introduce the electromagnetic simulation software (GEMS) developed by our group, and present the shortage of this software to show the mission of this thesis. Chapter 2 presents the principle of the algorithm, including its four key techniques: curved metallic surfaces, curved dielectric surfaces, non-uniform mesh, and treatment for lossy dielectric. In order to make users know more about the whole process and the logic of the software, the design of the whole software from graphical user interface to computational module are described in Chapter 3. In the following chapter, through an example of circular microstrip resonator we show user how to apply the software to simulate an electromagnetic structure. Then in chapter 5 some examples are presented to illustrate the application of this software, and some advice for improving this software in the future is given through analyzing the results. Finally, the whole work of this thesis is concluded.
