Usually the programmer is necessary to develop the MCU. The codes which have been compiled need to be written into the ROM inside or outside of the MCU by programmer. The price of the common programmer is from hundreds to thousands Yuan and it will be a heavy burden to the MCU interested developer. In addition, it is also very troublesome to remove the chip from the board then put it back again every time when the codes are modified.In the project of Artificial Weather Intelligence Control System (AWICS), the codes often need to be modified when system is debugged, the temperature sensors are corrected and the LCD is replaced. Because the 80C196KC doesn't support ISP, special erasing and programming equipment must be used to rewrite the program in M27C56 when codes are changed. It wastes lots of time and resources, even influences the system's reliability. So, it is necessary to realize on-line maintenance.Based on the research project, AWICS, an in-system-programming (ISP) technology of MCU 80C196KC through the serial ports is implemented in this thesis and its reliability is analyzed. First, the basis conception, theory, application condition and advantage of ISP are introduced. Then, after discussing fuzzy theory, artificial neural network theory and the relation with ISP, the necessity of ISP is explained. The thesis designs a scheme of ISP based on 80C196KC combining the real situation of AWICS, aider introducing and comparing various technology of ISP. Finally, the design of software including codes of PC and MCU, hardware of communication, protocol, reliability and situation of running the system are introduced in detail.The system is easy to design and implement, and it has good reliability. It will offer much convenience to implement ISP of the AWICS and similar system. At the same time, it has definite meaning of theory research and wide application foreground.
