As one of the new energy that replaces the normal energy like coal and oil that human uses. Geothermal Resource has many advantages such as clean, convenient exploitation and so on. The exploitation of geothermal resources can save the limited conventional energy, furthermore can reduce the cost of exploitation and environmental pollution, this has very important significance to protecting of the environment, achieving sustainable development and promoting the harmonious development of human and nature. Moreover Geothermal Resource has very rich reserves, if we calculated according to the standard that people consume 100 X 108 tons coal every year all over the world, it can meet the human demand of economy for more than hundreds of thousands years.As an important energy resources production base with million tons of annual output of crude oil in our country, Liaohe Basin has not only dense population and developed economy, but locates at comparison of the cold regions, it needs a lot of heat both in normal consumption of people's living and oilfield production. Liaohe Basin has higher geothermal field, furthermore lots of geothermal display had been found during the process of oil and gas exploration and development. On the base of the study of regional tectonics and the characteristics of the geothermal resources, we have evaluated the geothermal resource quantitatively in Liaohe basin through the establishment of the prediction modle of single geothermal well production, well -head temperature, single well control reserves, geothermal resources and geothermal water resources. The results show that Liaohe basin has a very rich geothermal resources,the total reserves of geothermal resources is up to 2.34×1020J, equals to 8.06 billion tons of standard coal,in which the reserves of classⅠis up to 3.9×1019m3, equals to 1.34 billion tons of standard coal. In addition, in this paper, we have made further elaboration on the mode of the exploitation and utilization of the stratigraphic water geothermal resources and the oilfield produced water-based geothermal resources. The development and utilization of geothermal resource in Liaohe basin has great significance to the sustainable development of economy of the mining cities in which oil and gas production is the main industry.
