The problem of water interaction in the arid and semi arid areas is a hot issue in the hydrologic cycle study.Only based on in-depth study of the interaction between surface water and groundwater and the transformation mechanism, can we accurately grasp the law of hydrologic cycle, and can we make accurate evaluation of water resources and rational development and utilization. The technique of water chemistry and stable isotope are more and more applied in the study of water interaction, and they provide a new idea to the traditional hydrology study. In this paper, based on field sampling and analysis to study the water interaction in zhe middle reaches of Heihe River, main contents and findings are as follows:(1) Based on the samples of surface water, spring water and well water in the wet and dry season were collected, hydrochemistry characteristics of The Heihe River and its major tributaries and spatial distribution of the groundwater chemistry were systematically analyzed, and the reasons were discussed.(2) Based on the the isotope analysis, the isotope variations between the groundwater and surface water were analyzed, and the water interaction was discussed under different hydrogeological conditions, and the quantitative calculations was did in some regions.(3) Taken the Linze artificial irrigation as an example of the middle reaches, the the annual and seasonal dynamical characteristics of the groundwater table was discussed, and the factors of the groundwater recharge changes. From the 1980s to now, the type of dynamic change of groundwater level was gradually transformed from the hydrology-irrigation type to the exploitation type.
