Current Situation And Analysis Of The Sandy Coast In The North Of Shandong Peninsula

The coastal zone is an important space for human being's living and development, constant worldwide coastal erosion has drawn international attention. Seventy percent of sandy coast in China is undergoing erosion, which has negative effect on the development of our country's coastal area. Shandong Province is among China's eleven provinces that lie along the coast, the length of its coastline is more than 3000 kilometers, which takes one-sixth of the whole country's, and Shandong Province is the blue economic area that China will develop prior in the future, knowing well of the type and erosion situation of its sandy coast means a great deal to exploitation and protect in the future. The north of Shandong Peninsula belongs to Jiaodong Uplift structurally, almost half of its coast is sandy coast, on which there are many tourism areas are built and building which will be the key area drives the economic growth in the future and undergoes great anthropogenic influence.This paper is based on the research program of maintenance and restore of Shandong Province sandy coast, which divides the coast into 28 sections, investigates and researches comprehensively all through. The research contains large-scale field survey and exploration, monitor the profile and shoreline, variety of grain size of sediment and many other basic survey method. We sort the sandy coast in the north of Shandong Peninsula by combine the accurate field data with former experience and achievement, then did valuation research by type.As research shows, there are two main kinds of beach in this area, cape-bay pocket-shape beach and sandbank planation beach. Most of them are in status of erosion, only a few are steady or silt. While there are two kinds of coast erosion, beaches east of Penglai most are toward northeast, while beaches west of Penglai are toward north or northwest, most waves in this area are storm, strong wave and frequent wave most toward north and northeast, so in the east the sediment transportation is transverse while in the west is longitudinal. Therefore the erosion systems are different in the two directions, in the east, eroded sediment transport to open sea, so the main reasons for coast erosion are sand exploitation and decrease of river sediment transportation; in the west, the eroded sediment mainly come into silt flow and transport downstream along the shore besides to the open sea.The discussion based on the above research consider the main reason for coast erosion in Shandong Peninsula is architecture's intercepting sand source and exploitation of beach sand, the ocean force such as storm surge and long time wave also accelerate the erosion. Corresponding recovery measures are put forward after analysis of the reason for erosion in the research area, that is to restrict the exploitation of beach sand and develop beach conserve.
