With the rapid development of economy, coal receives more and more world's attention. meanwhile, coal is the base and guarantee of national economic development. Coal is nonrenewable resources. In recent years, coal has begun to dry up in many places, so coal's discovery and rational mining is of very importance in modern energy utilization.This paper, taking the thin coal as an example, analyzes the geological characteristics of the whole Kaixian country in detail, and then study lithofacies palaeogeography of Kaixian and makes contrast of coal seam to study on the capability evaluation. Kaixian experiences many tectonic movements in geological history development and grow a lot of faults and folds. According to the features of structures, stratas, lithofacies palaeogeographies and so on, this paper analyses the the coal occurrence condition. There are three output horizons of coal in Kaixian: kungurian Liangshan formation, upperpermianseries wuchiaping formation and uppertriassicseries Xujiahe formation, but the Xujiahe formation is primary. In morden, there are many ways of reserves estimation, but owing to the simple coal structure in Kaixian, this paper uses the Blocks Law to estimate. This makes the result more exact and prosesses leading and practical significance.
