Research On Web Map Language Analysis And Its Applications

The web map is a new type of digital map which browsed, produced, used and transferred on internet. It has the basic characteristics including dynamic, interactive, hypermedia structure and the simple in transferring the geographic information. The map language uses map symbols, vectors, text, notes and other methods to express the distribution, quantity, quality, characteristics, composition, basic properties and their relevance of the geospatial objects. In order to understand the basic characteristics of the web map, discuss the application effect of web map language which used in the modern web map and make the transmission of geospatial information more accurately and vividly. The analysis of web map language and its applications was researched in this paper.The main work includes:1. Classified the visual form of web map language from the geometric features, symbols types and expressive forms, discussed the principles, features and design rules, to understand the various ways of expressing the geographic information with the aid of web map language.2. On the basis of analyzing six static visual variables and its constitution and visual features, analyzed six dynamic visual variables of web map language, discussed the meaning, characteristics and changes in feeling of these six dynamic visual variables, it could make the geographic information expressed more effectively.3. Discussed the web map language grammar of the combination of visual variables and the organization of the map elements, in the discussion on the basic concepts of web map language grammar. It could understand the organized structure system of map space organization effectively.4. In the discussion on the perfect combination of scientific beauty and artistic beauty, two basic aspects of beauty of web map language were analyzed-scientific beauty and artistic beauty.5. The design of interface, symbols and notes, and color on Google maps was researched by using the theory of web map language.The characteristics of this paper are mainly reflected in:1. The analysis of variety of web map language:In order to understand how to transfer the geographic information of web map language variously and effectively, a useful exploration was did.2. in the discussion on the dynamic variables of web map language:six dynamic variables and their meaning and characteristics of web map language were presented and discussed.3. Research on the beauty of web map language:it was hoped that followed the rules of beauty for improving the quality of producing web map, and achieved the purpose of transferring the map information effectively.It not only has the practical value to research on understanding, evaluating and applying the web map language correctly, and promoting the transferring of geospatial information more accurately and vividly. But also has the theoretical benefit to strengthen the research of web map language, and promote the web map and cartography to higher levels.The current research in this paper focused on the developed visual language (including the part of the auditory language), and it has exploratory benefit for the developing field of auditory language, and the tactile language which will be developed.
