With the development of computer hardware and software technology, the widespread of Internet technology and the social demand for geographic information, GIS has been used widely, and gradually uses the Internet as a platform to transmit information, it makes the general public easily access to geographic information and benefit from the geographic information industry. Although the combination of the Internet and GIS (Web GIS) has entered the IT mainstream, and been widely used in urban construction, transportation, government and many other aspects, it is far from mature. The performance of the map client, data transmission, geographical information sharing and interoperability, and cross-platform service issues are still the bottleneck to geographic information sharing. The paper, above problems, pulls in the concept of Web Service, summeds up the SOA, Web Service, Mashup, AJAX and other related theories and technologies, and applies these technologies to the asynchronous query of WebGIS map attribute data, the improvements of system interface and functionality, service interoperability ,service aggregation and so on. It makes Web Service technology as the core of the system architecture, uses a Geographic Information Sharing mode based on Web Service, given the design principles of geographical information sharing service platform. Geographic information sharing has been enhanced as a service-oriented type of geographic information sharing.According to the architecture and design principles, the paper develops a prototype system of geographical information sharing platform with .NET technology. The platform realizes the map scale, roaming, Eagle Eye, hierarchical display, thematic maps and asynchronous queries, statistical calculation,and exploits in the following areas:(1) Based on the OGC specification, the paper realizes the WMS, WFS services and their management, and provides easily interface for service cross-platform polymerization.(2) Under the support of the platform, the application of Mashup achieves a strong function of the browser-based service aggregation.(3) Using AJAX technology achieves the dynamic display of client's vector graphics.Finally, the paper proposes the improvement of the platform and the outlook.
