With the development of modern industry, more and more types of sheet metal forming products are appeared, the new materials with low plasticity and hard deformed propertys are widely used in automotive, aviation, aerospace and other fields, and with the shapes of parts are more and more complexed,the forming of such materials and components are proposing a severe challenge to the traditional sheet metal forming technology.So, researchers have proposed soft mold forming technology, this technology own its advantages than traditional forming methods but it has many disadvantages also ,and to some extent limit the further development and application of this technology .A new type of sheet metal forming technology which is based on the traditional soft mold forming technology has been proposed by researchers,its can overcome some disadvantages of soft mold technology and be named solid granules forming technology. It's use the solid granules to instead the function of traditional punch(or die, viscous medium,liquid)to forming sheet metal.The main research methods is engineering experimental in this paper,take box shaped part as the main study object, respectively using the soft punch and soft die experimental program to study the solid granules forming technology. Natural sand and steel ball with different diameters were selected as load transfer medium, simplified the pressure that transferred by the medium as uniform distribution pressure,and soft die solid granules forming program was simulated.This paper use plastic forming theory to analysised the distribution of stress and strain of parts which formed by solid granules forming technology . By analyzing the box-shaped parts'free deformation model , we know its'free deformation model can use quadratic function model to express. Experiments'result show that when box-shaped parts were formed by solid granules technology with soft punch,its risk section were the transition region of between the free bulging area and the short side wall area;lets the bottom of box-shaped part to attach the die, the results show that its'four bottom rounded are difficult to attach the mold, however, the bottom free bulging deformation area of part has a larger deformation capacity also,it can use to form complex bulging or strange shaped part;studied the diameter size of the medium how to affect the part's surface quality and forming limit; produced out the more higher part than the part that manufactured in traditional methods successfully in the case of the solid granules as cavity die, studied the effect of different reverse pressure on the quality of the outer surface of the part ,researched the reverse pressure effect of the formability of the part by simulation.This paper has enriched the research content of solid granules forming technolog, laid many groundwork for the future practical application of this technology, have the important academic significance.
