| This paper mainly probes into two methods for waterproof modification of wood-based panel. One is surface plasma treatment coated by simethicone, and the other is vacuum vapor deposition. Thickness swelling, absorbing water rate, surface wettability, surface topography and surface chemical elements of wood-based panels are discussed. The two methods are of great importance for improving waterproof ability and expending the usage range.First the paper makes research on surface wettability and surface free energy between poplar veneer treated by plasma coated with simethicone and poplar only coated by simethicone. The result shows that the surface treated by plasma coated with simethicone is more hydrophobic and surface free energy reduces a lot. Then study on the relationship between surface contact angle and different plasma treating factors including treat time, treat voltage and coated amount of simethicone. Use orthogonal analysis for process of poplar veneer treated by plasma with surface coated by simethicone to obtain the best process. That is plasma treating voltage 200v, plasma treating time 35s, simethicone coating amount 120 g/m2。Also study on the surface contact angle,24h water absorbing rate and 24h thickness swelling rate between panels treated by vacuum vapor deposition and normal panels. The result shows that the surface contact angle of panels modified by vacuum vapor deposition is much bigger. Reduction range of contact angle obviously becomes smaller.24h water absorbing rate and thickness swelling rate are reduced a lot compared to untreated wood based panels. Hydrophobic quality and water impervious for panels are obviously improved.Make use of infrared spectrum and scanning electron microscope and roughometer to analyze surface chemical elements and morphology after modifying the panels. Study shows that two different ways for waterproof modifying can form a layer of hydrophobic film. Besides, Thickness of film by vacuum vapor deposition is well-distributed. And Make the sealing properties of the wood surface better. Surface average roughness from big to small is normal poplar veneer, poplar veneer coated simethicone, veneer modified by vacuum vapor deposition,veneer treated by plasma coated with simethicone.At the same time, we do a research on the water repellent effectiveness of poplar veneer treated by plasma coated with simethicone. As the days passed by, the surface balanced contact angle has a tendency of increasing and becomes steadier. Also the reduction range of surface contact angle becomes much smaller. |
