In sheet metal production area, aiming at the situation that low precision and heavy workload in trimming line unfold process and easy to wrinkling and rupture in flanging process, the trimming line unfolding and flanging forming simulation system based on Pro/E was developed. The system which achieved a perfect connection between the part design and process simulation provided a reliable basis for the product and process design. Moreover, the system as a complementary tool for rapid simulation of finite element provided a good way to reduce product and process development cycle which is the key point in reducing production costs.The research of this thesis is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (No.50905067) and National Science and Technology Major Project (No.2009ZX04013-013).In this paper, the development status of sheet metal forming simulation technology was studied. The concept of developing simulation system which applied to sheet-metal part forming based on Pro/E was proposed. Based on the study of Pro/TOOLKIT secondary development technology, dialog box calling and response mechanism, the feasibility of system development was demonstrated. The system development process was designed according to the development characteristics.The obtaining feature technology which established the assembly framework and acquired stable access path was developed. The dynamic material library technology which developed dynamically adding and deleting function based on the original material library was investigated. In order to obtain the precise mesh model, the mesh managing technology which achieved mesh generation, mesh repair and mesh offset was developed. Depending on constraint nodes picking technology, the efficiency of constraint nodes search was improved. In this paper, according to the high strength auto panel structural parts flanging forming process, the applied method of the system in industrial production was introduced. The correctness of the system was proved by the comparison between simulation result and experiment. The importance of the system during the progressive die process design was showed by the trimming line unfolding process of progressive die part.
