Blast furnace process is a necessary part of the metallurgical industry. The blast furnace process includes many physical and chemical changes. They occur at the same time. Many kinds of materials exist simultaneously and interaction with each other, which makes the blast furnace become one of the most complicated reactors in the chemical industry. The knowledge of information in blast furnace plays an important role in controlling and optimizing the blast furnace process, which attracts many researchers to work with it. However, with the increasing scale of blast furnace, the dynamic characteristics in blast furnace are become more and more difficult to understand. There are still many problems remain unsolved. For example, there is not an effective tool to analyze the dynamic characteristics inside the blast furnace, and less information is offered. And lack of predicting function. Besides, the inner state of furnace can't be reflected visually. Efforts have been made to develop mathematical model for a better understanding of blast furnace.In this research, the theory of computational fluid dynamics is introduced to analyze the blast furnace process. The model consists of conservation equations of mass, momentum, thermal energy, and chemical species. The simultaneous physical and chemical changes are considered and the framework of the mathematical model is also constructed. The program consists of the following parts:boundary definition of the blast furnace and deadman, interpolation for the varieties in the conservation equations, discretization by using the control volume method, solve the equation by TDMA method, and then do the data visualization. The two dimensional dynamic model of blast furnace is built. Then do the simulation for the main phenomenon of blast furnace and analyze the movement and heat transfer of gas flow and solid flow. The results show that the complicated movements and heat transfer can be predicted by this model successfully.
