Along with people paying more and more attention on the environment protection and safety consciousness, the traditional tailings treatment that the tailings discharged into the tailing dam directly has gradually be eliminated. The process of tailings discharging dryly has solved the environmental protection and security problems produced by tailings treatment and it can improve the mine backwater, save a lot of production water which is in favor of the useful metal recycling. Anything else, it can save a lot of potions consumption and can reduce much land area occupied by the tailings dam. So it can creat good social benefits and economic benefits.In this paper, the tailings treatment and the concentrate and the dewatering equipment has been summarized briefly, at the same time, the processes and the treatments of tailings discharging dryly has been described in detail.The concentrating mill in Midi, Panzhihua has been taking a technical reform, the tailings will be treated with discharging dryly, and a semi-industrial test on tailings discharging dryly has been taked in the field. The test site is the number 4 tailings dam, the test materials is the tailings conveying to the tailings dam of Midi, Panzhihua concentrating mill which has been concentrated preliminary. This trial has preliminarily determined three process flow, the first process flow is tailings paste discharging, that make use of the vibratory lamella thickeners to concentrate the tailings to paste and then discharge it. The second process is condensing and filtering, that make use of the lamella thickeners to concentrate the tailings first and then make use of the horizontal type belt filters filtering the concentrated tailings, discharging the filter cake last. The third process is classifying and concentrating and pressing flow, that the original tailings was classified by the hydrocyclone first, then the coarse fraction of classifying was treated by the HF dewatering tower, and the sieve material discharged dryly. The fine fraction of classifying was treated by the vibratory lamella thickeners first, and then the concentrated fine fraction was treated by the plate and frame filter press, the press cake discharged dryly. The test results show that the tailings which was concentrated by the vibratory lamella thickeners can get the concentration up of 75%, and the paste tailing discharged effect ideal. The water content of the cake of the filtration and the pressing and the sieve material were about 15%, achieving the expected indicators.
