With the high speed development of economic construction in our country, the demand for mineral resources is increased continuously, Disposition of mineral processing wastes- tailings need to be solved urgently. The new technology of the tailings backfill and the surface disposal will be the development direction in the future. The conveying of tailings paste and the design of the disposal system needs the rheological parameter. Typical methods include the rheometer, viscometer and slump test. It becomes a practical method for the determination of rheological parameters on site because the operation of slump test is simple. In order to explore the influence on test results by cylinder size, this paper did some experiment with different height, different diameter of cylinder. At the same time the rheology data can be obtained by using HAAKE VT550 viscometer. Three rheological models including Bingham, Herschel Bulkley and Casson were used for data analysis. The data comparison between two experiments shown that the cylinder with 100 mm height and 50 mm diameter can get the best results. This study also compared the theory model and the approximate formula for paste slump tests. Three possible factors affecting the rheological parameters, with single sample with water dilution and multiple sample without dilution, paste continuous and intermittent, paste with different concentration in which the measurements will be started, has been explored. The results of slump test can provided the theory support for the design of paste backfill system and paste surface disposal system.ANSYS CFX is a Computational fluid dynamics software which is widely used to wide industrial field in recent years. This pipe uses CFX to set up mathematical model, set calculation conditions, analyze and simulate paste slump. CFX is the analytical testify of paste slump test.
