With the exploitation of ocean oil and gas switching to deep water and ultra deepwater fields,research on drilling and production system for deepwater has become hot item. As a reusable mobile drilling units, Semi-submersible drilling platform, has priority of less total investment, better seakeep performance, more deck space and deck variable load, wider range of water depth. Semi-submersible drilling platform is preferred for future development in South China Sea.This dissertation studys on the 3000 meters deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform which is intended to operate in South China Sea. The characteristics of deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform are brought forward on the basis of gathering and analyzing abundant information of foreign deepwater semi-submersible drilling platforms.The overall design and ballast system rearch are completed through general design idea and process.The main contents are as follows:1,Based on the 3000 meters deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform operating in the south China sea, the design standards are developed to meet the operational mission requirements. Through analysis of environmental characteristics of the South China Sea, the design environment conditions for operations and self-existent are established.2,Good performance is most important for projects.In this paper,the mother type is given by comparing different foreign existing semi-submersible drilling platform.And the principal dimentions of underwater part is determined.3,The deck area are related with functional requirements and capabilities needs. The final design result can meet the operational requirements.Meanwhile,to design the whole principal dimentions,the air gap analysis and the weight estimation are concluded in this paper.4, According to the functional character of the semi-submersible drilling platform general arrangements for floating body, the column,and the deck was designed under the premise of the platform to operate conveniently and efficiently;and the principles of the partition of dangerous areas and channels layout are summarized.5, The ABS and CCS specification requirements are considered for ballast system.This system design prosess are gaven in details.The main parameters and arrangement of ballast tanks are analyzed at last.
