Cement plays a pivotal role in the national economic construction in China. Since our country has been promoting the large constructional engineering for a long time, the cement consumption remains a big growth. At present, the technology of cement production has changed to the new dry method technology. Up to 2010 the production quantity of national cement clinker has sour to 1.28 billion ton, the production of national cement has reached to 1.869 billion ton, which accounts for than half of total world cement. The large production has received more attention in sustainability research due to its high consumption of energy and resource. Therefore, cleaner production is necessary for the energy saving and consumption. However, the cleaner production standards can only cover part of the production, so the idea of a Life -cycle assessment of cement industry is proposed, which aims to provide theoretical data support for cleaner production technologies in cement industry the main contents of this work include:(1) Searching for the cleaner product audits flow and life cycle assessment technology. A model of cleaner production audit for a cement enterprise is designed based on LCA. Study on the cement production process and technology research, collect the basic data of cement production various stages, confirm the research scope and objective, and inventory calculation and analysis.(2) Cradle-to-grave analysis was performed using the GaBi4 software with CML 2001 Dec 07 model by which global warming, human toxicity and Acidification Potential influence was analyzed and compared. According to the result of LCA analysis, the Cleaner production audit focus and cleaner production plan are put forward. In addition, environmental assessment is compared before and after the implementation of plan to analyze the cleaner production plan quantitatively.(3) LCA model is constructed to quantify emissions and resource consumption in each phase of cement production process of a Cement Plant in Dalian. The environmental impact caused by materials mining, transportation, raw material preparation, clinker calcination and finish grinding and mixing which are general processes that involved in cement materials production and transportation are evaluated. Cradle-to-grave analysis was performed using the GaBi4 software with CML 2001Dec 07 by which global warming, human toxicity and Acidification Potential influence was analyzed and compared. Results show that during whole lifetime of the cement production, clinker calcination could cause most impact to the environment in terms of carbon dioxide discharging and contribute to smog generation etc. Furthermore, clinker calcination is also ranking first place in energy consumption. According to the result of LCA analysis, the Cleaner production audit focus and cleaner production plan were put forward. In addition, choose the most important plan on waste heat generation to compare the environmental assessment before and after the implementation of this plan, to quantitatively analyze the cleaner production plan.
