Nowadays negative-ion fibers have been developed as a new kind of functional fiber,which can generate negative ions through applied mechanical forces. Because of the benefitsfrom negative ions, such as invigorating the transportation of oxygen, speeding upmetabolism, negative-ion textiles have attracted more and more attention recently. Is this kindof environmental protection consciousness and the health consciousness enhancement, thedevelopment and progress of negative-ion technology have been driven.Tourmaline has both piezoelectric and pyroelectric effects. Superfine powders oftourmaline have extensive application in the fields of negative-ion textiles. The experimentson superfine grinding of tourmaline powder by wet balling-stirring mill, combining withazeotropic distillation drying were carried out. The particle size of superfine tourmalinepowder is less than 500nm, it also has a narrow particle size distribution, which is availableby the experimental conditions. And BET, FTIR, XRD, TGA and SEM were used to analysethe influence of the wet balling-stirring on tourmaline's specific surface area, morphologies,particle size and chemical structure.Add the wet milled powder into nylon 6, then blend, make granules and spin accordingto some proportion of the master grains and nylon 6. Through the comparing method we studythe effect of the tourmaline powder before and after wet ball-milling on the property ofrheological properties and thermal properties of the nylon 6 by using capillary rheometer, SEMand melt spinning. The SEM show that the superfine powders of tourmaline have goodcompatibility and dispersed performance In the nylon 6 matrix. The breaking strength ofnegative-ion fiber is 1.69 cN/dtex,compared with the nylon fiber of 1.98 cN/dtex.Now there is no standard measuring method for negative-ion emission from textiles. Thethesis explored the influencing factors of concentration of negative-ions with AIC-2 andITC-201A Air Ion Counter. The mechanism of negative-ion generated from fiber fabrics havebeen studied. The result show that the nylon 6 fiber with the content of tourmaline powder of5%, which is prepared by direct melt spinning, can release the negative ions of 1460 ions/cm3.Meanwhile, core-sheath composite fibers has been discussed, tourmaline in the sheath show ahigher anion-generating capacity than tourmaline in the core when the content of tourmalineis 2% of the fibers.
