Tourmaline is an ore with some special functions. If we disperse the powder of nano-tourmaline into some polymers and spin, the fiber will produce some special functions. To solve the problem of compatibility between the tourmaline powder and fiber polymers, we modify the surface of nano-tourmaline powder with some couple agents; study the mechanism of surface modification; use different methods to test the effect of surface modification; and design a new instrument to test the contact angle of the powder which based on the principle of the method of permeating height by the weight at the bottom of electric balance to convert quality into height. The results tested by the new instrument are very close to the results got from the contact angle measuring apparatus of style JY-82. All testing results show that the best modification effect is using the couple agent of titanate with the content of 3%~5%.Add the modification powder into polyester, then blend, make granules and spin according to some proportion of the master grains and polyester. Through the comparing method we study the effect of the content of tourmaline powder on the property of thermo-mechanics of PET and the crystallization of fiber. We use the ion testing apparatus to test the polyester fiber. The results show that the polyester fiber with the content of tourmaline powder of 2% and 4% can release the negative ions of 460CC and 480CC.Self-polarization of nano-tourmaline powder makes them conduct electrics. We added the tourmaline powder into PAN and make thin films with them. Testing these films' conductivity, we find that the conductivity of the films will increase with the content of tourmaline powder and when the content is over 7%, this change will be smooth. By studying the rheology of PAN/tourmaline modification polymer on theHAAKE rheometer, it is found that the system of PAN/tourmaline has the character of shear thinning and its non-Newtonian index is less than 1. Its apparent viscosity reduced moderately with increasing temperature. We have span the fiber of PAN/tourmaline and tested its volume specific resistance.
