Multi-head computerized embroidery machine is the major research object in this paper. Its development history and research situation at home and abroad is briefly introduced. According to the problems in a certain type of computerized embroidery machine, the tread taking-up mechanism and beam are analyzed.Single-head tread taking-up mechanism model was established by a kind of three dimensional (3D) modeling software named SolidWorks. Based on the rigid multi-body system dynamics theory, the dynamic simulation of the single-headed tread taking-up mechanism is done with the software MSC.Adams. By simulation, the dynamic characteristics of the single-head tread taking-up mechanism and the effect of the structure parameter are obtained. By the analysis of the problems, three kind of improvement schemes are proposed, and both the advantages and disadvantages of them are analyzed.By installing the single-head tread taking-up mechanism on the beam,20-head tread taking-up mechanism is formed. The dynamic simulation of 20-headed tread taking-up mechanismis done with the software MSC.Adams based on the rigid-flexible coupling theory. The problems of the original model are found through the dynamic simulation, then some improvement schemes are proposed based on the analysis of single-head tread taking-up mechanism to improve the working performance of computer embroidery machine. The natural frequency of the beam is calculated by using theoretical estimation and finite element analysis methods. To avoid the resonance phenomenon, a scheme to improve the beam is proposed and the natural frequency of the beam is increased to contribute a theoretical principle to improve the spindle speed and working efficiency of computerized embroidery machine.The theoretical analysis about computerized embroidery machine in this paper has certain reference value to improve its working performance. The design cycle is also shorten by using the virtual prototyping technology.
