The study and application of distribution static synchronous compensator (D-STATCOM) are wide. D-STATCOM can supply reactive power and reduce harmonic effectively in distribution power system. The design of D-STATCOM control system is a key problem for these reasons above.This dissertation studied the control method of D-STATCOM mainly based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and auto-disturbance-rejection control (ADRC) theory. For voltage source type D-STATCOM, the dual closed loop control scheme with the DC-side voltage as the outer loop and the ac current as the inner one was designed. The ability of reactive current compensation and dc voltage stability were the control targets.Firstly, the voltage and current regulators with the structure of PI which could anti-integration saturation were designed. The control parameters were obtained via PSO algorithm. In order to compare the control effect of PI method and ADRC method, this dissertation also simplified the typical nonlinear second order auto-disturbance-rejection control algorithm to design the DC-side voltage regulator.Secondly, the whole simulation model of the D-STATCOM control system in MATLAB/Simulink was established. The simulation results verified that the D-STATCOM based on PSO PI control method and simplified ADRC method both could supply the reactive current as required and maintain the dc-side capacitor voltage steady. Comparing the two control systems, the ADRC control system had a better ability in maintaining the DC-side voltage steady and had a faster dynamic response speed.Thirdly, the experiments in dSPACE real-time simulation platform were taken out.The results showed that the D-STATCOM based on the simplified ADRC controller had a good ability of compensating reactive current and maintaining the DC-side voltage steady. The D-STATCOM control system was robust.
