ObjectiveTo explore the relation between the expression Of the matrix metalloproteinase -2 (MMP-2) in hernia transverse fascia and external oblique fascia and the level of serum with the level of collagen typeⅠand typeⅢof the tissue. Discuss the effect of MMP-2 in collagen metabolism of the adult inguinal hernia. Methods:Study objects from February 2009 to August 2010 in our hospital with primary inguinal hernia repair 40 patients(male 32 female 8)25 cases in which indirect inguinal hernia, male 20, female 5,age 18-75 (52.35±13.8)years.15 cases of direct inguinal hernia, male 12, female 3,age 31-80(55.27±13.7)years.The control group for the same period in our hospital without lower abdominal hernia surgery 10 patients ,age 20-79(50.16±13.5) years. All participants were informed and consent to patients.this study is approved by Anhui Provincial Hospital Ethics Committee.Derived part is Abdominal external oblique tendon film and after the inguinal canal wall fascia transersalis organization, while at the same time the blood was extracted.the expression of MMP-2 were examined with immunohistochemitry. The patients who are receiving steroid or other immunosuppressive agents (including chemotherapy) treatment with a history of local inflammation, abdominal surgery, diabetes, abdominal aortic aneurysm and connective tissue diseases were excluded. , At the same time the blood was extracted.the expression of MMP-2 were examined with immunohistochemitry. ELASA analysis the level of MMP-2 in serum and collagen typeⅠ,typeⅢand the ratio of collagenⅠ/Ⅲin tissue. Results :The expression of MMP-2 is weak in the control group, the group of the indirect inguinal hernia express positive, the group of direct hernia take on the strongest expression; The MMP-2 concentration in blood were significantly different pairwise comparisons (P <0.05); the mean collagen typeⅠand the ratio of collagen typeⅠ/Ⅲof the direct inguinal hernia group was lower in comparison to the control (P <0.05); the mean collagen typeⅢof the direct inguinal hernia group was higher in comparison to the control (P <0.05).Conclusions :There were correlations between MMP-2 and the degradation of collagen in the transverse fascia, external oblique fascia and the formation of adult inguinal hernia, especially of inguinal direct hernia. The degradation of MMP-2 is the formation of direct inguinal hernia formed an important factor. Hernia is a systemic disease.
