A Clinical Observation On Treating Simple Obesity By Electro-acupuncture

Objective:By grouping for treatment of simple obesity, observed the efficacy of electro-acupuncture, to provide scientific and objective clinical basis for exploring ways to lose weight easily and efficiently, and also to examine some of the treatment mechanism.Methods:Sixty simple obesity patients were randomly divided into two groups by visiting order:electro-acupuncture group and acupuncture group. The number of two groups of patients was 30 cases. Treatment 5 times per week,10 times as a course of treatment. After 3 courses of treatment, obesity index(body mass, waistline, hip circumference, thigh circumference, body mass index and percentage of body fat) and symptom score were analyzed.Results:(1) After treatment, body mass, waistline, hip circumference, thigh circumference, body mass index and percentage of body fat were all descended. Indicators before and after treatment were significantly different (P<0.01);(2) After treatment, the index fell between the two groups, decline in body weight has significant differences (P<0.05), decline in waist circumference, body mass index and percentage of body fat have very significant differences (P<0.01), decline in thigh circumference and hip significant do not have statistically significant (P>0.05).(3) The compare to symptom score about both groups before and after treatment all have very significant differences(P<0.01); The compare to the decline in symptom score about both groups also have very significant differences(P<0.01).(4) The total effective rate of electro-acupuncture group, acupuncture group were 93.33%, 76.67% respectively. The total effective rate of electric-acupuncture group significantly higher than acupuncture group, The results were statistically significant P<0.05 (P=0.03)Conclusions:1. Both the electro-acupuncture and acupuncture are effective treatments on simple obesity, but the electric-acupuncture is significantly higher than acupuncture.2. Both the electro-acupuncture and acupuncture can reduce obesity indices in patients with simple obesity, the electro-acupuncture's change in body mass,waist circumference, waistline, body mass index and percentage of body fat are obvious than the acupuncture' s.3. Electro-acupuncture can reduce the clinical symptoms of patients with simple obesity more effectively, to the role of weight loss and health, deserve further study.
