Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza are traditional Chinese drug of promoting blood flow and removing blood stasis. In traditional Chinese medicine, there is a long history of using traditional Chinese drug for promoting blood flow and removing blood stasis to promote healing of fracture. There are not only the obsorption of dead bone but also the form of new bone during the agglutination of bone fracture. It is a rebuilding process of the bone tissue. It is conformable with the alveolar bone rebuilding process during the orthodontic tooth movement. There is very extensive application of Salvia miltiorrhiza in clinic. Many domestic scholars research have shown that Salvia Miltiorrhiza can promote the rebuilding of the bone tissue during the process of fracture healing. Zhang ding et al. considered Salvia miltiorrhiza's action for osteoclasts in vitro is that it is restrained directly and activating indirectly. Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root are also the drug of promoting blood flow and removing blood stasis. This experiment's objective is checking these two chinese drug having the same effect with Salvia miltiorrhiza.Purpose:Firstly an experimental animal model of the orthodontic tooth movement of the rats was constructed. The rats were fed with the decoction of Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza separately. Then the action of the traditional Chinese medicine during the orthodontic tooth movement of the rats was observed. The amount of osteoclasts in the pressure side during orthodontic tooth movement of rats was used to evaluate the mechanism of action of three traditional Chinese medicine affecting the orthodontic tooth movement of the rats. This experiment's object is to check whether these two chinese drug have the same effect in the orthodontic tooth movement of the rats with Sal via miltiorrhiza.Methods:96 female Wistar rats(190±10g)were chosen and divided into four groups randomly:Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza group and the control group. Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza group were fed with the decoction of Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza (6g/kg) every day separately, the control group fed 0.9%NS 1.5ml every day. The rats were fed for eight weeks. Then the orthodontic appliance was loaded to the rats through the previous method.2%Ketamine(Ketamine Hydrochloride Injection) was injected to the abdominal cavity of rats. The rats were fixed to the operation table and Ni-Ti extension spring were loaded between upper central incisor and first molar. The strength was 40g. We applied orthodontic force every 7 days and applied 4 times continuously. Six rats of every group were killed separately on 7,14,21,28 day. Experimental distance of orthodontic teeth movement,the amount of osteoclasts in the pressure side during orthodontic tooth movement and the change of periodontium were observed. Finally all data were analyzed by PASW statistics18.Results:1. All the traditional Chinese drug of Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza can make the distance of orthodontic teeth movement in rats increase. On the seventh day the difference about the distance of orthodontic teeth movement in four groups were not statistically significant. On 14th,21th,28th day the distance of orthodontic teeth movement of Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza group were both higher than that in the control group. The differences between four groups were statistically significant. The differences between three traditional Chinese drug of Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza were not statistically significant.2. The amount of osteoclasts in the traditional Chinese drug of Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza group were increase firstly and then stable. The amount of osteoclasts in the control group was also increase in 7th> 14ttK 21th, but the extent was less then that of the traditional Chinese drug groups. The differences between three traditional Chinese drug groups and the control group were statistically significant. In 28th day the amount of osteoclasts in the control group fell, but the amount of osteoclasts in three traditional Chinese drug groups did not fall. The differences between three traditional Chinese drug groups were not statistically significant.Conclusions:1. The established animal orthodontic tooth movement model in rats is scientific, simple and reliable.2. All the traditional Chinese drug of Drynaria fortune,Chinese teasel root can accelerate orthodontic teeth movement in rats. Drynaria fortune,Chinese teasel root have the similar effect with Salvia Miltiorrhiza.3. All the traditional Chinese drug of Drynaria fortunei,Chinese teasel root,Salvia Miltiorrhiza can add the amount of osteoclasts in the pressure side of orthodontic movement teeth during orthodontic teeth movement in rats.
