Oxidative damage can lead to organ and tissue lesions and induce a variety of diseases such as cancer, aging, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis etc.Rose roxburghii Tratt which is rich in natural resources, is non-toxic and full of nutrients, such as Vc, superoxide dismutase (SOD), flavone, polysaccharides, essential amino acids etc. Therefore, it has a variety of functional activity.In this paper, multiple reaction systems were used to determine the effect on oxidative damage of aqueous extract of Rose roxburghii Tratt.In aqueous extract of Rose roxburghii Tratt, polyphenols content was 223.02±12.89 mg/g, flavonoid content was 20.41±1.71 mg/g. The Rose roxburghii Tratt aqueous extract had scavenging activity on DPPH·radical and ABTS+·radical. Its IC50 was 74.93 mg/L on scavenging DPPH·radical and IC50 was 153.83 mg/L on ABTS+·radical. Rose roxburghii Tratt aqueous extract also had strong Iron reductive ability, the FRAP was 1.363 mmol。The inhibitory action on induced DNA oxidative damage by Phen-CuSO4-Vc system was enhanced with concentration of the Rose roxburghii Tratt aqueous extract increased. When concentration reached 15mg/ml, the inhibitory rate was 66.9%.Rose roxburghii Tratt aqueous extract had inhibitory in Cu2+/H2O2 and AAPH induced protein oxidative damage. When concentration reached 10mg/ml, protein oxidative damdge was inhibited significantly。Rose roxburghii Tratt aqueous extract had protection effect on Cu2+/H2O2 induced liver homogenate protein oxidative damage. It could inhibit protein carbonyls. The inhibitory effect was concentration depedent. It could protect protein thiol, enhance ability on anti-oxidative of liver homogenate. It was also positively correlated with concentration. Rose roxburghii Tratt aqueous extract had protective effect on Cu2+/H2O2 induced liver homogenate lipid oxidative damage. It can inhibit formation of MDA and CD which formed in lipid oxidative damage process.In summary, Rose roxburghii Tratt aqueous extract contained a number of active components, and had strong free radical scavenging capacity. Rose roxburghii Tratt aqueous extract can strongly inhibit DNA and protein oxidative damage, and could protect protein and lipid oxidative of liver homogenate.
