| Objective: The present study aims to discuss the influence of radiofrequency thermo-coagulation to vidian and anterior ethmoidal nerves on neuropeptides in serum and nasal mucosa of allergic rhinitis(AR). Methods: From November 2009 to September 2010,eighteen patients with allergic rhinitis who were selected from hospital accepted radiofrequency thermo-coagulation to vidian and anterior ethmoidal nerves. Serum levels of substance P(SP),vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)and neusopeptide Y(NPY) were measured by ELIA while nasal mucosa levels of these neuropeptides were measured by immunohistochemistry in these AR patients before and two months after operation. Results:The level of SP,VIP and NPY in serum were respectively 63.46±12.68 ng/ml,32.46±17.49 ng/ml,10.51±4.27 pg/ml before operate, and 38.44±14.21 ng/ml,14.76±8.01 ng/ml,4.81±2.62 pg/ml after operation. According to immunohistochemistry, there was a significantly decrease of SP,VIP and NPY in nasal mucosa after operation(P<0.05). Conclusions: The present data indicated that radiofrequency thermo-coagulation to vidian and anterior ethmoidal nerves treat AR can reduce these SP,VIP and NPY levels in serum and nasal mucosa. This study supported the belief that the operation was an effective treatment for allergic rhinitis... |
