Objective:We compared the function of conflict monitoring difference between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) children and normal children in the conflict task .Methods:ERPs elicited by performing the spatial Simon-Stroop task were recorded in 32 children with ADHD and 32 normal children, to compare and analyze the differences of ERP and behavior results in two groups. Results:Behavioral result :The correct rate of the children with ADHDwere less than normal children in Simon incongruent (SmI) and Stroop incongruent(StI),the differences have statistic significance P<0.001.The reaction time of ADHD group in the SmI were longer than the control group, the differences have statistic significance P <0.05; ERP results: The amplitude of N2 of the children with ADHD in the four conditions were smaller than the control group, the difference in SmI has statistic significance P<0.05, there was no significant difference in latency P> 0.05; Source analysis: The activation of prefrontal and anterior cingulate cortex of ADHD were weaker than the control group. Conclusion:The results suggest, duing to the inadequate allocation of attention resources of the children with ADHD, they have conflict monitoring function defects compared to normal children. The function defects of conflict information processing related brain areas may be the main neural mechanism. Objective:We compared thefunction of conflict monitoring difference of school age children with Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and normal controlsin. Methods:ERPs elicited by performing the spatial Simon-Stroop task were in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) children and normal children in the conflict task , they were divided into four age-group to compare and analyze the differences of ERP and behavior results of difference age groups in two groups. Results:Performance showed the ADHD had more error and slower reaction time compared to controls in four age groups .With development ,the correct rate were linear increased and reaction time were linear decreased . There were two significant differences between 6-7 years and 8years and between 9years and 10-11 years for control group. However, there was only one in ADHD which lie in 6-7years to 8 years .The ADHD group showed a generally smaller N2 in early of school children (6-7years to 8 years),and then ,the N2 amplitude become equal to healthy controls in late school age .Furthermore , the N2 amplitude of 9 year-olds in ADHD were equal to the 8 year-olds of normal controls. Conclusion:The data of the study most likely reflected that there was impaired conflict monitoring processing in early school age children with ADHD. And the development pattern of conflict monitoring function showed that ADHD had delay development before 9 year-old .The result of the behavior and ERP can become the sensitive indicator for the early diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.
