Objectives:Based on the study of breast health care implementation and related basal information from females of the two towns, Zhenru and Changzheng., four committees from them were set as intervention group and control group respectively. The intervention group was educated with knowledge on screening and self examination of breast cancer, then the effects of the intervention was studied. The purpose of this study is to provide some scientific support for the further implementation of breast cancer health care education.Methods:Medical staffs were trained uniformly and 30000 females were investigated by housing questionnaire survey. Based on this survey,2302 females from Zhenru and Changzheng were picked out and implemented by breast cancer health care. One year later, the effects of breast health care were evaluated.Results:60% females from the two towns have never been educated with breast cancer health care and 50% of the studied females don't know the periodically hospital examination on breast is necessary. Only 30% of the studied females go to hospital actively for breast examination. Over 50% of the studied females never do periodically breast examination and don't know how to do it. After one-year breast health care, the rate of education on breast disease knowledge of Zhenru was increased from 41.4% to 54.5%, the rate of peoples with awareness of periodically hospital breast examination increased from 61.5% to 81.5%, while the rate of people who can go to hospital for breast examination showed little changes. The rate of awareness and behavior on breast examination in house increased from 53.5%,34.3% to 75.9% and 52.8%, respectively. Peoples who grasp the method of breast examination increased from 53.5% to 70.3%. In control group of Changzheng town, There is no significant improvement on breast disease knowledge education, grasp of method of self-examination for breast and awareness of going to hospital and examination in house.Conclusion:Breast cancer health care and guidance can strengthen female's awareness of screening and self-examination on breast and can be applied to their life. For this, a good foundation will be layed for early diagnosis of breast cancer, improvement of post-surgery status and living conditions of the couples. Our health department and media should strengthen propagation of related knowledge of breast. Also, effective preventive measures should be made to decrease breast cancer mortality and improve the quality of life of the patients. |
