| Background and ObjectiveBreast cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in women and it threatens the physical and mental health seriously. Among all the female cancers, the incidence of Breast Caneer is the highest, and has the tendency to inerease. It would be the common principal cause of cancer death in women worldwide. The patients often die of the recurrence and metastasis. The routine treatments of breast cancer include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Surgical operation brings a big bodily injury. Meanwhile, radiotherapy and chemotherapy carry much more considerable side effect for patients of breast caneer. They all can strongly injury the patients'immune function and quality of life. How to improve the patients' quality of life, and prolong patients' lives, reduce the recurrence and metastasis rate of postoperative mammary carcinoma has become a hot subject of all over the world.Chinese medicine treatment has particular advantages in preventing the recurrence and metastasis of postoperative breast cancer. On the basis of therapeutic experience and the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, professor Zhang Zhonghai points out that postoperative Breast Cancer is "mammary carcinoma, zhengxuduchi syndrome".He advocates the therapy of strengthening healthy qi to eliminiate pathogens in order to prevent the recurrence and metastasis of postoperative breast cancer. And on this babis, he creates Fuzheng Xiaoliu Decoction.In order to improve the patients' quality of life, this subject take Fuzheng Xiaoliu Decoetion as testing object, divide the patients randomly into treamtment and control groups, give them different therapies, and observe the dynamic changes of clinical symptoms, hemogram, immune function, and patients' quality of life. This subject prove that Fuzheng Xiaoliu Decoetion can relieve patients' discomfort, improve their immune function and quality of life. This subject can provide available methods and prescriptions for the postoperative Breast Cancer patients, and it has better social and economic benefit.MethodsAccording to ther equirments of clinical study, suitable samples were selected for the study. All the suitable patients were randomly divided into two groups, and were given different treatments. A group was given Fuzheng Xiaoliu Decoetion as the treatment group, and another group treated with Huaierkeli as the control group. Endocrine theraphy of the two groups was same. Then observed the dynamic changes of clinical symptoms, patients' quality of life, hemogram, tumor marker, and immune function. Finally compared the difference between the two treatments' clinical efficacy.Statistic analysis:All values are expressed as the mean standard±deviation(x±s). Statistis alanalysis was performed using the statistical package SPSS for Windows Ver13.0. Results of prior-treatment and post-treatment in the group were analyzed using paired- samples t test. Independ-samples t test was used for the comparion of the two groups before and after treatment. Count data was analysed by pearsonχ2 test. P<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.ContentsEvaluated results of clinical symptoms:Investigated and scored the fifteen types of clinic symptoms in different therapy phases, such as spargosis, swelling and distension of upper extremity, pain, lack of power, short breath, distinclination to talk, sored lower extremities, cardiopalmus, dyspnea, hectic fever, nausea and vomitting, thirsty, insomnia, constipation and weight increase. Observed the changes of the patients' diseomforts.The effect on the patients, quality of life:We used revision of the Chinese version of the FACT-B(4.0) for patienis with Breast Cancer to appraise and score the quality of life for patients with breast cancer.The effect of the bone marrow cells on hematopoiesis:routine blood tests were conducted before and after the therapy. Observed the level of numeration of leukocyte(WBC), hemoglobin(Hb) thromboeyte(PLT). Analyzed the effectiveness of Fuzheng Xiaoliu Deeoction in protecting patients from the marrow depress effects.The effect of the tumor markers:routine tumor markers were detected before and after the therapy. Observed the level of numeration of CA153. Analyzed the effectiveness of Fuzheng Xiaoliu Deeoction in treatmenting breast cancer.The effect on the immune function:Absolute numbers of T cell subsets(CD3+CD4+,CD3+CD8+) and NK(CD56+) cells in peripheral blood after treatments were tested by flow cytometer. Studied changes of their absolute numbers and ratios.ResultsComparison of symptoms in two groups:The average discomfort score after treatment of the treatment group is (23.14±3.30). The score of the control group is (29.43±4.06). Patients in the treatment group had less discomfort and had a lesser degree. FuZheng Xiaoliu Decoetion can obviously reless the clinical symptoms of the patients with breast cancer. Their difference was significant (P<0.01, P=0.000). FuZheng Xiaoliu Decoetion can reduce the score of discomfort of the patients with breast cancer and reless the clinical discomfort symptoms from the patients.Comparison of QOL in two groups:The average quality of life(QOL) after therapy in the treatment group scored (102.34±7.97). The average quality of life after therapy in the control group scored (94.14±6.87). Compared the QOL after therapies between the two groups, we could find the difference was significant(P<0.05). So Fuzheng Xiaoliu Decoction can improve QOL of the patients with breast cancer.Comparison of hemograms in two groups:Comparing the treatment group with the control group, we can find that the former has a smooth increase in hemograms. The white blood cell(WBC) of the treatment group after therapy was(5.75±0.87)×109/L, while the control group was (5.17±1.00)×109/L. The hemoglobin(Hb) of the treatment group after therapy was(128.20±12.93)g/l. while the hemoglobin(Hb) of the control group after therapy was (120.51±11.77)g/l. All of the differences were significant(every P<0.05).The thrombocyte (PLT) of the treatment group after therapy was (223.74±49.92)×109/L, while the control group was (207.80±51.89)×109/L. The difference of the thrombocyte was no significance(P>0.05, P=0.195).Comparison of the tumor markers in two groups:The CA153 of the treatment group after therapy was (10.87±4.9) ng/ml, while the control group was (14.17±6.28) ng/ml. The difference was significant(P<0.05, P=0.017).Comparison of lymphocytes in two groups:The average CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes ratio was (44.25±7.58)%.The average CD3+CD8+T lymphocytes ratio was(23.76±4.76)%.The ratio of CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes to CD3+CD8+T lymphocytes was (1.91±0.35).The average NK cells ratio was (18.19±3.5)%. While in the control group, the average CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes ratio was (39.10±6.04)%. The average CD3+CD8+T lymphocytes ratio was (27.26±4.88)%. The ratio of CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes to CD3+CD8+T lymphocytes was (1.47±0.34). The average NK cells ratio was (15.23±3.40)%. We compared the control group with the treatment group and found that CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes ratio and NK cells ratio all had decreased after therapy. Compared with CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes ratio of the control group was much less. The difference was significant(P<0.01, P=0.002). Compared with the treatment group, NK cells ratio of the control group wasl ess, and the difference was also significant(P<0.01, P=0.001). Compared with the treatment group, CD3+CD8+T lymphocytes ratio of the control group was bigger.The difference was significant(P<0.01, P=0.003). After therapies, the ratio of CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes to CD3+CD8+T lymphocytes in the treatment group was much bigger.The difference was significant(P<0.01, P=0.000).ConclusionFuzheng Xiaoliu Decoction can ease discomforts in patients with breast cancer, improve patients' quality of life, detoxify, and enhance immune function. It has definite clinical effect and it has better social and economic benefits. So it is worth to promote application. |
