| Objective: Apoptosis is also called procedure apoptosis, it is a special kind of cell death that differs from necrosis, and it is an active cell death way caused by body exterior and interior factors trigger the death procedure which is existed before from intra-cellular. Along with the relationship research between apoptosis and disease, the relationship between lens epithelial cells apoptosis and cataract is widely recognized. Recent studies have shown that: lens epithelial cells apoptosis is the cytological foundation of all kinds of cataract except congenital cataract. Along with the development of surgical technic on vitreous and retina, silicone oil as a vitreous gapfiller is used for complexity vitreoretinopathy and gains satisfactory effects. Following up silicone oil-filled surgery, cataract is the most common complication after silicone oil-filled surgery, its incidence is nearly 100%。The development of cataract is not only enable patient's vision descent but also affect fundus examination and may also delay the diagnose of fundus oculi disease, so the genesis and progression of complicated cataract associated with silicone oil-filled eyes is more and more value by eye doctor,but the pathogenetic of cataract caused by silicone oil is remain not clear now. We investigate the expression of bax in lens epithelial cells from complicated cataract associated with silicone oil to study the relationship between lens epithelial cells apoptosis and complicated cataract associated with silicone oil, the pathogentic of cataract induced by silicone oil.Methods: We observe the expression of bax in 45 cases of lens epithelial cells, including aged-related cataract 20 cases 20 eyes , complicated cataract associated with silicone oil 18 cases 18 eyes and dislocation of lens caused by various kinds of reason from health adult 7 cases 7 eyes were detected by hematoxylin and eosin(HE) and immunohistochemistry. Result:1. The modality of different types of lens epithelial cells by light microscope: dislocation of lens lens epithelial cells are well-distributed, size with accordance, cells gomphosis each other, nucleus is round, size with accordance ; age-related cataract lens epithelial cells is compared with dislocation of lens, it has smaller volume, corrugativus lens anterior capsules , irregular modality, separated from lens anterior capsules, it also exist swelling cells, bigger intercellular space, discordant nucleus size and the phenomenon of cell overlap; complicated cataract associated with silicone oil show that lens anterior capsules with curl and thick, lens epithelial denaturation,fiber metaplasia,hyperplasia,and its cells have different kinds of modality, most of it are flat ellipse or ellipse, arranged disorder, bigger intercellular space, and part of cells matrix under anterior capsules exist silicone oil.2. Immunohistochemical streptavidin-peroxidases(S-P) method was used to detect the expression of bax on different kinds of lens epithelial cells: The expression of bax was positive in aged-related cataract and complicated cataract associated with silicone oil lens epithelial cells and negative in dislocation of lens. The expression of bax has significance difference in three groups (P〈0.05), and there was statistical significance each other in three groups(P〈0.05). The expression of bax in lens epithelial cells from complicated cataract associated with silicone oil is stronger than aged-related cataract, there was statistical significance in two types of cataract(P〈0.05).Conclusion: These results suggest that there are relationship between bax and the genesis and progression of complicated cataract associated with silicone oil; The generation of aged-related cataract and complicated cataract associated with silicone oil are related to lens epithelial cells apoptosis, there may be exist different pathogenesis in both disease. |
