Objective :Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) was one of frequently-occurring disease in gynecology, the main clinical manifestations include: stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and pelvic organ prolapse(POP) ,which seriously affected the life quality of sick women. There were a lot of academic debate for PFD pathogenesis, and many research progresses have been made. Some researchers considered that serum relaxin levels have an impact on pelvic floor dysfunction. In this paper, the relation between the POP and serum relaxin levels would be investigated.Methods: The POP patients and no POP patients in gynecology ward of ShangHai sixth people's hospital and JinShan central hospital from 2010.11 to 2011.2 were taken as research target. The patients was divided into case group and comparison group, the number of either group was 35, no heart disease,diabetes,kidney disease, hepatitis,severe anemia,smoking,long-term medication,acute and chronic infection was found in the patients,and the rate of hypertensive disease in two group was same. From serum relaxin levels of patients who were assayed and the statistical methods , the relation between the PFD and serum relaxin levels were investigated,and physiological functions with relaxin were discussed.Results: From the research data,serum relaxin levels of the POP patients was lower than the comparison group,the result was with significant difference in statistics (Statistical P value was smaller than 0.05); From comparison of patients without uterus and with uterus,the serum relaxin levels of the patients without uterus was lower than the patients with uterus, the result was with significant difference in statistics too(Statistical P value was smaller than 0.05); From comparison of menopause and non-menopause patients,the serum relaxin levels of the non-menopause patients was higher than the menopause patients, the result was no significant difference in statistics(Statistical P value was larger than 0.05).Conclusion:RLX could make the effect on extracellular matrix. Collagen, elastin, and proteoglycans were the important components of extracellular matrix and have relation with POP. If someone the serum relaxin levels was low,collagen synthesis and degradation could be disorder and the pelvic floor support system would be weak; On the other hand, RLX reduction make connective tissue collagen fibers of the pelvic floor support system excessive accumulation,which made the scar or fibrosis form,finally, the Pelvic floor support system lost the function and cause the POP; The RLX of the menopause women was mainly come from endometrium and myometrium, women without uterus would have a lower serum relaxin level.
