This thesis comprises three chapters altogether. In the first chapter, the rencent advances on the chemical constituents and bioactivities of Salvia yunnanensis was summarized. The second chapter dealed with the isolation and determination of the chemical constituents of Salvia yunnanensis. And in the last chapter, conclusion of this dissertation was made.The genus Salvia (Lamiaceae) is an important class of medicinal plants encompassesing1000species widespread throughout the word, of which79species are found in China. About30species are used as substitutes for "danshen". The main components of this genus are the diterpenes and polyphenolics. Pharmacological experiments show that diterpenoid with extensive biological activities including anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor. In order to further understanding and find new and bioactive diterpenoids from the plants of this genus, systemic chemical and preliminary biologic studies on Salvia yunnanensis. were carried out in this dissertation.By the means of silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, RP-18column, MCI column and spectroscopic evidences,85compounds were isolated and identified from Salvia yunnanensis, including diterpenoids, diterpenoid alkaloids, sesquiterpenes, triterpene, sterols, flavonoids, and aromatic compounds. Twenty two new diterpenoids, named yunnanone A(1), yunnanone B(2) and salyunnain A-T(3-22), were isolated together with63known compounds. Yunnanone A is the first diterpenoid featured with7/5/6carbon rings system isolated from higher plants. Another novel diterpenoid, yunnanone B, having a unique6/6/6/5ring system skeleton.
