In view of the fact that the domestic academic circle had more researches of Sino-UK relations before the founding of the new China, this article places the research key point before the founding of the new China, inspecting the Sino-UK relations in the establishing diplomatic relations question. After the Second World War, it appeared cold war pattern, Britain and China belonged to the different camp, however they were not the countries that completely complied with the Soviet and US national will, according to the own national interest adjusted diplomatic policy. The Sino-UK national strength had the direction opposite change in the second half of the 20th century China's national strength strengthened unceasingly, the international standing rose gradually. Britain's national strength weakened unceasingly, the international standing declined gradually. This caused that China was initiative, the old Chinese time that kind of pitiful in Sino-UK relations never to returns. But Britain and China establish relation did not indicate that Britain had the friendly attitude to new China, between China and UK still has the contradiction.This article divides into three parts. The first part is about Communist Party of China and Britain's relations before the founding of new China. After Second World War, Britain's strength moved toward the decline, also greatly to weaken in the Chinese status. In order to maintain in the Chinese benefit, Britain started with Communist Party of China's cooperation.The second part is that Britain acknowledged the new China. On October 1,1949, the People's Republic of China proclaimed the founding. Only 3 months later, Britain announced acknowledging new China, becomes the first western country that acknowledging the new China. Because of the economic agent, Hong Kong question, the international cold war background as well as Soviet and the American policy's influence and so on, the Sino-UK relations had not obtained the normal development. Britain made choice different with US, had demonstrated the realism foreign policy. The third part reflects the Sino-UK negotiations course was winding and complex. International environment and'the special relationship'between UK and US had decided Britain after acknowledging new China had bogged down. China and UK established'half diplomacy' in 1954 the relations. After the Sino-US relations presented the favorable turn China and UK officially promoted to the ambassadorial diplomatic relations. Although China and UK still had the contradiction in Hong Kong question, but new China at that time does not take back temporarily, maintaining the present situation. After the 1970s, China and UK hold the historic opportunity has solved between properly both countries some unresolved questions, eliminated the relations between the two countries development barrier, realized the relations between the two countries completely to normalize finally.Finally is conclusion part, the reader may discover that this time's British diplomacy often manifested the characteristic which lacked the ability to do what one would like. However, to maintain Great Britain former glory, Britain drew support from the influence of US showing strength frequently. Between China and UK relational change, concentrated reflection at that time complex international environment. China and Britain at the right moment adjusted the diplomatic relations, realized the national interest maximization.
