The storyteller is the culture encyclopedia in Northern Shaanxi. It tells the history and legend, philosophy of life, folk tale, and so on, which is in the form of story telling by the artists since long term. It is provide with rich ideology and literary value. It can help us to understand the cultural characteristics of Shaanxi and inherit the folk art through studying the storyteller comprehensive. However, with the impact of globalization, the traditional Chinese Culture was knocked down to the "edge" and structure of social happened sharp change. It leading the more and more traditional music to dissimilation, assimilation, and even disappearance or die. So it is very important of research of Northern Shaanxi storyteller to find out feature and significance of the unique art form. Moreover, it can be provided the empirical and strategy for protection and inheritance of traditional culture by discusses the historical development and evolvement rules.Based on ethnomusicology, cultural anthropology and folklore vision as writing theory, with relevant historical literature and the field survey documents, and with on-the-spot investigation, and combined with community study of social anthropology, the storytellers of Northern Shaanxi were admitted into cultural ecological environment to reflect survival status and development of that comprehensively, and to explore folk beliefs, social behaviors and landscape of storytellers voice in farming culture. It is shown the folk music culture and life picture in Zhidan town by describe storytellers at leisure square, celebration of festival and temple fair in detail. And then it is discussed the inheritance and development of Shaanxi storytellers and its social function through investigating famous storytellers artist Qixiang Han and storyteller group of Zhidan town. Based on analysis the sample voice-like state of Northern Shaanxi storytellers, to reflect evolution feature of Shaanxi art and current social change and the meaning of culture.This paper, based on the field investigation text and demonstrated supporting of related literature, constitutes some results of music ethnography of the northern Shaanxi, expect to explain storytellers as cultural interpretation reasonably.
